1.1 Purpose of the Knowledge Module
The main focus of the learning in this knowledge module is to build an understanding of the purpose and use of RPA to imitate human actions to automate repetitive work processes ensuring the tasks are streamlined and accurate.
The learning will enable learners to demonstrate an understanding of:
– KM-01-KT01 : Robotic process automation (RPA) basics 70%
– KM-01-KT02 : Background on RPA 30%

1.2.1 KM-01-KT01 : Robotic process automation (RPA) basics 70%
Topic elements to be covered include:
– KT0101 Historic evolution of automation
– KT0102 Intelligent automation
– KT0103 RPA deployment and employment

– KT0104 Introduction to RPA

Internal Assessment Criteria and Weight
– IAC0101 The evolution of automation is discussed
– IAC0102 An understanding of the benefits of RPA is demonstrated
– IAC0103 Application opportunities for RPA are identified and discussed
(Weight 70%)

1.2.2 KM-01-KT02 : Background on RPA 30%
Topic elements to be covered include:
– KT0201 Concept, definitions and terminology
– KT0202 RPA principles
– KT0203 RPA programming
– KT0204 Technical knowledge on leading automation toolkits and RPA Software, e.g., Blue Prism,

UiPath, WorkFusion, AutomationEverywhere, etc.

Internal Assessment Criteria and Weight
–  IAC0201 RPA concepts are defined using correct terminology.

– IAC0202 Leading automation toolkits and RPA Software are compared in terms of advantages and disadvantages. (Weight 30%)

1.3 Provider Programme Accreditation Criteria
Physical Requirements:
– The provider must have lesson plans and structured learning material or provide learners with access to structured learning material that addresses all the topics in all the knowledge modules as well as the applied knowledge in the practical skills.
– QCTO/ MICT SETA requirements
Human Resource Requirements:
– Lecturer/learner ratio of 1:20 (Maximum)
–  Qualification of lecturer (SME):
o NQF 6 in industry recognised qualifications with 1 year’s experience in the IT industry
o RPA vendor certification
– Assessors and moderators: accredited by the MICT SETA
Legal Requirements:
–  Legal (product) licences to use the software for learning and training
– OHS compliance certificate
– Ethical clearance (where necessary)

1.4 Exemptions
– No exemptions, but the module can be achieved in full through a normal RPL process
